REIKI FAQ

1. What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese hands-on technique used for relieving stress and for creating relaxation, restoration and wellness in the individual. Reiki is administered by a practitioner, who serves as a conduit through whom the Universal Life Energy can be transmitted to the recipient, by either hands-on or distance healing techniques.

2. What can Reiki offer and who can benefit?

Reiki offers a holistic opportunity to receive a soothing treatment, a chance to relax and to let go of stress, renewed energy which helps the body maintain and restore health, emotional release, dissolution of barriers, increased self-acceptance and improved relationships, improved coping mechanisms, increased awareness, an increase in physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional strength, and restorative and preventative care which may help us avoid future health scares.  Reiki offers transformation and healing on levels. The experience of Reiki is very personal, and everyone can benefit!

3. Is Reiki a religion?

No, Reiki is not a religion, nor is it based on the acceptance of any religious doctrine. Having a belief system is not a requirement for Reiki to work. Reiki does not infringe on anyone’s right to believe what he or she wishes. However, Reiki's principles are spiritual in nature and do encourage spiritual empowerment and growth.

4. What is a Reiki attunement and who can receive one?

Reiki is not taught in the way other healing techniques are taught. It is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process. This process opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source.  Reiki is a pure form of healing not dependent on individual talent or acquired ability. Because of this, the personality of the healer is less likely to cloud the significance of the experience. The feeling of being connected directly to the Source's healing love and protection is clearly apparent.  Anyone can learn to practice Reiki.  Reiki I enables one to practice self-treatments.  Reiki II enables one to treat others.  The Master Attunement allows one to teach and attune others.  The Advanced Reiki Training includes working with crystals, crystal grids, chakras, violet breath, additional symbols, and other advanced training.

5. What is your Reiki background/lineage?

I am a Reiki Master/Teacher  in the Usui Reiki tradition. I was trained in Reiki I and II by Susan Grase Wisniewski who received her training from William Lee Rand. The lineage can be traced back to Mikao Usui. I received my Master attunement from Anne Bendan and Lauren Welch, both of whose lineage also include William Rand and originate with Mikao Usui.

I believe that Reiki is the vehicle through which I have been called to Be -- to live fully and purposefully. I am dedicated to sharing this energy and to helping others find access to the healing that I myself have experienced through grace. I believe that it is there for each and every one of us... if we can only stay open enough to receive.
